night's power outage won't hurt his city's chances of hosting another super bowl. mitch landrieu says to a local radio station this morning that league owners were impressed with how new orleans hosted the game last night. the nfl is still trying to figure out what caused that outage at the super dome. the lights went out during the third quarter, delaying the game for about 30 minutes. stadium officials initially blamed an abnormality they say an investigation is still under way. >>> fireworks over the city of baltimore to celebrate. there will be a parade tomorrow to celebrate the win, but today baltimore is cleaning up after fans poured into the streets creating a mess. sara hansen takes us there. >> reporter: monday morning, baltimore was still basking in a purple glow after a long-awaited victory. crews came out to clean up the streets of federal hill, just hours after thousands of fans came out to celebrate. they poured out of bars and restaurants downtown. in canton the streets were also counted, fans were flying high. >> it's unbelievable. i've never seen anything like this in

that this is an unfortunate situation and it should not take away from what has been a superb week for new orleans, the city that was mostly once under water, now hosting the biggest sporting event of the year, talked to a lot of fans last night after that delay and they said this does not affect how they feel about super bowl week, they had a great experience, and this was just an unfortunate incident. roger goodell saying this does not affect the nfl looking at having new orleans host another super bowl and i know the city is aiming towards 2018 to do that to coincide with the 300 year anniversary of the city. >> there is a whole other story line today percolating, joe carter, about how cbs dropped the ball according to this one. sports columnist on the new york daily news, we'll talk about that later in the hour with several voices we're bringing on whether or not they failed to report what was happening as they awaited on the sidelines. joe carter for me in new orleans. thank you. i want to play some sound. this is commissioner roger goodell. this is what he is saying here about this blackout. >> there

city, alabama, gabe guttierez, a tough few days. another emotional day ahead, i suspect. >> reporter: that's right. this afternoon mourners are preparing to remember that slain bus driver. police appear willing to wait this one out. as police towed the school bus from the crime scene friday, investigators released the first picture of the man they say is responsible. 65-year-old jimmy lee dykes. the man believed to be holding hostage a boy with asberger's syndrome named ethan in an underground bunker. >> we understand he's got supplies there. he's got food there. but this is a young child five years old. has he got food that this child will eat? >> reporter: nbc news has confirmed dykes served in the u.s. navy in the 60s. he served various awards, a good conduct med methal and vietnam service medal. but on tuesday those honors seem very far away. police say dykes boarded a stopped school bus and demanded two random young children. when the bus drive refused, plea say dykes shot and killed him and made off with 5-year-old ethan. kelly miller says her kids got off that bus right before

mild autism as well. gabe gutierrez joins us from midland city, alabama. gabe, we know authorities have been talking to dykes through that pvc pipe of some sort. do we know whether he's asking for anything? >> reporter: craig, we've been following this story for days. police are very tightlipped about what their communication with dykes involves. we don't know if he's making any demeans, but yesterday we did hear from the sheriff and saw some signs of how sensitive these negotiations have become. the shefb thariff thavsnked the for taking care of our child. law enforcement authorities may believe that the suspect has access to television in the bunker. he has an electric heater, blankets and treating the child relatively well and the child so far was not physically harmed, but not many details on the nature of the negotiations. this has been going on for more than 118 hours, since tuesday afternoon, when police say that suspect, jimmy lee dykes boarded that school bus, demanded two children and shot and killed the bus driver and took off with 5-year-old ethan according to police. they h
